Using Colour to Create Atmosphere

For the first set of images I wanted to incorporate my research in which I found by using a contrasting colour you could truly highlight the isolation and fear of the surrounding white space. I initially wanted to use my own photographs of snow covered or foggy surroundings but unfortunately the weather would not corporate so I experimented with Photoshop and collage to create these eerie images.

Using Colour to Create Meaning

For the second lot of images I wanted to experiment in how a contrasting colour on a white space could create meaning so I used images of Syrian children refugees and the iconic photo of the drowned boy washed onto the beach, I made sure to make them very small to show how isolated and alone these children are as the white space surrounds them. I even experimented what these images would look like as posters on a wall to raise awareness on the refugee crisis.
